2. Secularization. Loss of belief in the ultimate nature of reality as transcendent, immaterial and other-worldly. A focus on this-world: specifically (i) the measurable and (ii) the subjective (which two are fused: the subjective rendered measurable by proxy).

3. Abstract Materialism. The combination of abstraction and secularization therefore leads to an elite world view which is materialistic (this-worldly) and which explains things in terms of abstract forces and dispositions.

4. Spirituality of materialism. The purest, most idealistic morality from this perspective is therefore an abstract but non-transcendent spirituality of the material.
